Inspection of 240 volt appliances
When testing 240V appliances, the tests are governed by what type of appliance is being tested. If the appliance has a Double Box symbol it is classed as a class two device and a visual inspection is carried out, followed by an Insulation Resistance Test.
Any appliances without a Double Box symbol are considered as a class one device and a visual inspection is then carried out, followed by an Earth Continuity Test, and then an Insulation Resistance Test.
Inspection of 110 and 415 volt appliances
When testing 110V and 415V equipment, the same applies as with 240V appliances - the tests are governed by what type of appliance is being tested.
The main difference is that designated adapters are used to enable tests to be carried out. Due to the nature of these appliances, they need to be tested on a more frequent basis.
Inspection of interconnecting leads and extensions
When testing interconnecting leads and extension blocks four tests are carried out:
1. A Visual Inspection
2. An Earth Continuity Test
3. An Insulation Resistance Test
4. A Polarity Test
What our clients say...
Norfolk PAT Testing service was excellent. Simon was prompt, friendly and polite whilst being very professional. He was extremely thorough checking every appliance meticulously. The test results list and certificate were emailed to me the following day. I couldn’t ask for a better service. Thank you.
